Did you know The Origin of Pizza
There is an ongoing debate on whether pizza was invented in New York City or New Haven, Connecticut. New Yorkers claim Genarro Lombardi, who owned Lombardi’s Restaurant in Manhattan, made the first pizzas in the United States in 1905. New Haven, Connecticut natives and especially Yale University’s alumni would beg to differ. I have eaten apizza (pronounced “uh-beets-ah” by East Coast pizza lovers) handed to me on tissue paper out of a sliding window on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn and at Pepe’s Pizzeria Napoletana and Sally’s Pizza on Wooster Street in New Haven.
